The gîte
Holiday house “Les Pompadour” was built in 1844 and was completely restored and renovated in 2018/2019. Hereby many original details were preserved and natural materials were used. The house is a typical French ‘longère’. This is a long, rectangular country house, built with local natural stones. With its thick walls, the house stays cool in the warm summer months.
Les Pompadour is a beautiful six-person holiday home with a large south-facing garden. The total complex consists of two completely separate houses, one of which is occupied by the owner. The gîte is situated on a private area of 6000 m2.
The gîte is located in the Indre et Loire department (37) just outside the picturesque village of La Chapelle Blanche Saint Martin and only 280 km south of Paris.
Our gîte is ideal for those looking for silence, privacy, nature, nice villages, culture and good food.
The gîte is designed to offer our guests a pleasant stay. On the ground floor you will find a spacious living room with original fireplace, in which a wood stove is placed. There are electric heaters throughout the house, making Les Pompadour a comfortable place to stay all year round.
There is a cozy sitting area with television (satellite TV with, among other things, English channels) and Wi-Fi. Most of the furniture is original and restored by the owner. The beautiful, fully renovated ceiling with original beams adds to a warm, homely atmosphere, as do the – also fully renovated – stone walls that are so typical for the houses in this region.
Through a wide arc you go to the country kitchen with original fireplace with an electric fireplace built in, original tiled floor and stone wall. The kitchen is equipped with all conveniences, such as an induction hob with extractor hood, a fridge with small freezer, dishwasher, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, mixer, filter coffee machine and Nespresso coffee machine.
In the adjoining part next to the kitchen you will find a toilet with a small sink and an extra room with washing machine, ironing board, iron, vacuum cleaner, laundry rack and other household materials. You will also find a fire extinguisher and first aid kit.
Through an open wooden staircase (with handrail) in the living room you enter the first floor where you will find:
- A bedroom with a king size double bed (180 x 200 cm) with a double mattrass
- A bedroom with a queen size double bed (160 x 200 cm) with a double matrass
- A bedroom with two single beds (90 x 200 cm)
A beautifully tiled bathroom with large shower, sink and toilet. Towels, washing hands and a hair dryer are provided.
Les Pompadour has a fully fenced south facing private garden with a large, tiled terrace and pergola where you can enjoy your breakfast, lunch and dinner while enjoying the peaceful surroundings and beautiful views of the fields around the gîte. The spacious, sunny garden, borders on farm fields where grain or sunflowers are grown.
You have sun all day, but there are plenty of shady spots. There is a second wooden terrace with a beautiful lounge set. Here you can enjoy spectacular sunsets in the evening. You can use the barbecue and jacuzzi (Intex). Comfortable garden furniture and sun loungers, all with cushions, are available.
There is a lawn in the garden and there are borders with beautiful plants and flowers. There are cherry trees in the garden, which bloom beautifully in April and are full of cherries in June / July.
